Porters' executive chef was a finalist in a state cooking competition held earlier this month in Portland.
Dustin Farley clinched third at the Bite of Oregon Iron Chef Battle, which took place at Waterfront Park Aug. 8 and 9. He was invited to compete after winning 2013's Ashland Culinary Festival.
He advanced to the semi finals after beating the 2013 Portland Iron Chef, Mirna Attar of Ya Hala, and prepared skirt steak during the semifinals. Windy conditions prevented him from completing a black bean fritter accompaniment in the allotted time. Judges praised his dish's flavors and presentation, but could not advance him, as the dish was incomplete, a news release from Porters reported.
